Nord Stream pulled out into Russian coast
30 July 2010
print
The first section of the Nord Stream gas has been pulled out into the Russian coast from the Castoro Sei pipe-laying vessel moored 1 km off the shore.
The pipes were put into a trench that will be backfilled with sand to the seabed level to protect them from exposure to streams, waves and ice.
Nord Stream’s German coastal section was completed in the beginning of July. The pipeline will connect Greifswald in Germany and Vyborg in Russia through the Baltic Sea.
It will supply gas to tens of millions of European consumers.
