Merkel says China can help EU solve debt problems

Germany`s Chancellor Angela Merkel believes that China can help solve high debt problems in the euro zone.

Speaking at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in Beijing, Merkel stressed that the European financial crisis affects global economy.

She added that the German market is open to Chinese businessmen and said that her country expected a reciprocal access to markets in China.

Merkel also urged Beijing to use its influence to persuade Iran to make its nuclear program more transparent.
