N Caucasus in for rapid change

There are possibilities to raise about 600 billion roubles for funding programmes to develop farming, construction, energy, transportation and holiday industries and improve education, health care and cultural services in the Russian Caucasus.
Presidential Deputy for the area Alexander Khloponin discussed the matter with Prime Minister Vladimir Putin at a meeting with him in Sochi on Monday.They approved a 15-year programme to create 400 thousand jobs and bring southern Russia’s annual economic expansion rate to almost 8 percent.
A special development corporation is now in place, charged with attracting Russian and foreign capital to the North Caucasus.
