The territory of unlimitted investment projects

According to Lev Kuznetsov`s words, the governor of the Krasnoyarsk territory, in 2009 foreign trade of the region reached $6,811 million, exports totaled 5 414,4 million or 79,5 % of foreign trade turnover while imports were $1,396,6 million. Trade partners of are companies from 106 countries across the world.

And this is only the beginning. The Krasnoyarsk territory is one of the most attractive for investors regions in this country. In Siberia, it occupies the first place in terms of investments in fixed capital and ranks in the top ten Russian regions in investments volume and growth rate.

First and foremost, it is a result of the implementation of major investment projects and the creation of the necessary infrastructure in the territory. One of the major projects is the development of the Vankorskoye oil and gas field that is of national strategic importance. The commissioning of first units of the Boguchanskaya hydropower plant will launch the development of the areas in the lower reaches of the Angara River.

Comprehensive development of the Krasnoyarsk agglomeration for the period till 2020

Due to the region’s relative geographical closeness, sufficient mineral resources, high industrial, scientific and educational potential, transport accessibility and knowledge of the specific features of the market in this part of the world, the Krasnoyarsk agglomeration might become an obvious partner of the majority of Asian regions as well as an agent and intermediary in trade between Russian, European, American and Asian producers.

Siberian Federal University

The SFU campus is one of the most important components of the Krasnoyarsk agglomeration. The campus is a complex of classroom buildings, research laboratories, electronic library, comfortable hostels and residential quarters for the staff and faculty. 

One of the lines of development of the SFU and other Krasnoyarsk universities and colleges is cooperation with major foreign universities. Student and professor exchange programs are being planned. In the near future, a delegation representing Krasnoyarsk universities and colleges will leave for the Shanghai University for talks. 

Sports complex «Academy of Winter Sports»

It is planned to build a multipurpose recreation and sports training complex with the purpose to improve the quality of the training of Olympic-level athletes, to develop winter sports in the region and to provide the perfect conditions for training sessions.

Development of tourism on the territory of the Yergaki Natural Park

The project is to be implemented on the territory of the natural zone of West Sayan. It envisions the creation of a first-class touristic center with modern facilities for active rest, chair lifts and hotels. It is also planned that the Park will host the Federal Training Center of the Ministry of Emergencies, a climbers’ camp and training centers for athletes preparing for summer and winter Olympic Games.

The complex is to provide a wide range of services for active rest and sports.

Forest replantation

The project envisages restoration and creation of conifer woodlands with the use of state-of-the-art selective breeding techniques, biotechnologies and cloning technologies. It is planned to use these technologies for creation of park areas in cities and restoration of conifer woodlands in suburban zones.

Modernization of the plant producing wound dressings on the basis of collagen-chitosan nanocomplexes

It is planned to upgrade the plant producing wound dressings on the basis of collagen-chitosan nanocomplexes.  Production will be modernized and certified according to GMP standards. Wound dressings on the basis of collagen-chitosan nanocomplexes made by the plant will be used in ophthalmology, dentistry, obstetrics and gynecology.

Since 2004, the territory has been using the development budget to support investment activities. State support is provided through subsidies for partial write-off of interest on investment loans and of lease payments, as well as through budget investments in project of special importance for the regional economy.

Tourism is a major investment attraction in the region where 213 companies are involved in touristic activities. With the Krasnoyarsk population of 987,000 the city has 43 hotels to accommodate 2,550 guests. Other 15 towns of the territory have 70 hotels to accommodate 3,569 people.

The territory has 13 institutions of higher education including the Siberian Federal University (SFU), the Siberian State Aerospace University, the Krasnoyarsk Institute for Trade and Economics, and the Siberian Technological University.

The SFU incorporates 35 divisions dealing with innovative science. It enrolls more then 40,000 full-time students and employs more than 3,000 faculty and staff.
